Willard Green
Willard L. Green, 72, of Virginia Street, Keyser, WV, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
Born on June 14, 1936 at Frostburg, MD, he was a son of the late Lindley O. and Myrtle R. (Evans) Green.
Mr. Green was retired with 38 years of service as a millwright with the Westvaco Luke Mill. He was a 1953 graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, MD and was a member of the Potomac Highland Baptist Church, Keyser. One of Mr. Green’s hobbies was woodworking and he and his wife also enjoyed camping, serving as the resident camp managers at the Kings Dominion Campgound for the last seven years.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Gretchen H. (Umstot) Green; two sons, James L. Green and wife Mary “Robin” of Richmond, VA and Steven W. Green and wife Dianna of Austin, Arkansas; one daughter, Sherri L. Hickey and husband Kenny of Keyser; two brothers, Edward Green of Belair, MD and Garry Green of Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Jaime Nicole Green, Andrew Green, Steven Jason Green, Derik Green, Shena Green, Kelli Grubbs and husband Brian and J.D. Hickey; two great-grandchildren, Valencia Lenz and Jacob Hickey and three step-grandchildren, Ryan, Bethany and Dustin Crawford.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, August 5 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lloyd E. Heatwole officiating.
Entombment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Keyser.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, 182 N. Mechanic Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
