SWANTON, Md. - Gloria Louise Barnard, 78, of 15990 Maryland Highway, Swanton, passed away Sunday March 7, 2010, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born June 21, 1931, at Hampshire, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Viola (Smiley) Kasmier.  Her husband, Ray Barnard, a son, Johnny Barnard, four brothers, Jimmy, Eldon, Rudy, and Frankie Kasmier, and three sisters, Vivian Rosier, June Hotchkiss and Susan Shoemaker, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barnard was a homemaker.  She was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, where she was active with W.S.C.S. of the church.  Louise formerly cooked for Bull’s Restaurant and Bever Flat Restaurant.  She was well known for her cooking.  She loved to quilt, crochet, embroider and was an avid card player.  Dedicated to her family, she was a loving mother and grandmother and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves behind a daughter, Debbie Henderson and husband Jay of Swanton; one brother, Jesse Kasmier and wife Martha of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., four grandchildren, Kristi Tichnell and husband Lee, Jason Henderson and wife Jeanna, Johnny Barnard Jr., and Shana Barnard.  She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Corbin Barnard, Nathan Tichnell, Morgan Tichnell, and Jacey Henderson and a daughter-in-law, Tina Barnard.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. 

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Michael Ludle officiating.
Interment will be in Barnard-Henderson Family Cemetery, Swanton.
