Hazel D. VanPelt
KEYSER — Hazel Dawn VanPelt, 93, of Rawlings, Md.,, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, Keyser, W.Va.
Born on Dec. 18, 1916, at Norfolk, Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert Sales and Eula Mae (Tyler) Creasy. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert B. VanPelt, on Jan. 20, 1985; four brothers, an infant and Bernard, Carl and Claude Creasy; and three sisters, Frances Shipper, Ruby Kelly and Eileen Francis.
Mrs. VanPelt was a homemaker and was a 1935 graduate of Bruce High School. She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, Dawson, Md.
Surviving are her three children, Robert Dale VanPelt of Rawlings, Md., Elizabeth L. Hammond and husband Terry of Rawlings and Ramona Dawn Roller and husband Robert of Cumberland, Md.; one sister, Isabelle S. Hayes of Westernport, Md.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Dawson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Merle Correll officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.
