Betty J. Johnson
WESTERNPORT - Betty Jane Johnson, 81, of Maryland Avenue, Westernport, Md., died at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center on Friday, March 5, 2010.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1928, in Barnum, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late John Farris and Beulah (Virts) Farris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David D. Johnson; and a sister, Louise Bray. She was also preceded in death by two nephews, John “Jackie” Sears and Donald Bray.
Betty was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Westernport, helping with Bible School and church dinners. She loved to shop and used to bowl. She loved spending time with her family. She was a 1945 graduate of Bruce High School.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Sears of Piedmont, W.Va.; three nieces, Judy Bray of Rawlings, Md., Karen Kimble of Keyser, W.Va., and Nancy Johnson of Keyser, W.Va.; and two nephews, Richard Bray of Rawlings, Md., and Norman Bray of Keyser, W.Va.
She is also survived by three great nieces, Pamela Burkett of Westernport, Md., Jennifer Sears of Piedmont, W.Va., and Amber Morgan of Rawlings, Md.; and two great nephews, Jerimiah Kiser and Dustin Kimble of Keyser, W.Va.;and one great-grand nephew, Lucas John Burkett, her special angel.
The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Sunday, March 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 8, 2010 , at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Earl Williams officiating.
Interment will be at Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser, WV.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad or the Potomac Fire Co. in Westernport, Md.
