Swanton, MD. Marvin Marple JR, 71, of 17060 Maryland Highway, Swanton, passed away Monday, July 7, 2008 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV.
Born November 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Marvin Marple SR and
the late Nettie P. (Feaster) Marple.
Mr. Marple was an active member of the Piedmont Church of God, Ashfield St, where he served on the Pastor's Council, and he was instrumental in the building of the new church. He was retired from Mead-Westvaco Corp, with 43 years of service, having been a beaterman. He was active with the Moran Manor Nursing Home Auxiliary. Mr. Marple was a former Tri-Towns Little League baseball coach. He also previously served as Recording Secretary for Luke Local #676 U.P.I.U.
A devout Christian, husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind his wife, Martha (Bever) Marple, two sons, Tim Marple and wife Patty of Westernport, Tom Marple and wife Linda of Swanton, a daughter, Tammy Ward and husband Bill of Bloomington, a brother, William H. Marple of Iowa, three sisters, Gennalee Broadwater and husband Clem of Westernport, Betty Jean Smith and husband Charles of Dawson, and Donna Rae Marple of Iowa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacy and Adam Coco of Pittsburgh, PA, Elizabeth and Seth Marple both of Westernport, and Joshua and Rebekah Ward both of Bloomington.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Ada Kittle and Rev. Donald Marple officiating.
Interment will be in Bever Cemetery, Backbone Mountain.
