Eldred A. Broadwater, 73, of 18601 Takoma Drive, Barton, passed away Wednesday July 2, 2008, at WMHS Braddock Campus, Cumberland.Born March 25, 1935 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Reuben and Ethel (Broadwater) Broadwater.  His first wife, Dorothy J. (Merrbaugh) Broadwater, and a brother, Vernon Broadwater, also preceded him in death.Mr. Broadwater was retired from Westvaco Corp, with 45 years of service, having been the Outside Department Superintendant.  He was a member of the Barton United Methodist, a member of Georges Creek Valley Lodge #161 AF & AM, a 40 year member of Ali Ghan Shrine Club, a former member of the Barton Hose Co., a member of the Frostburg Museum Association, and an active member of the Georges Creek Senior Citizens.  He was also the Trial Magistrate in Barton for many years.
He leaves behind his second wife, Mary Jane (McDonald) Stanley Broadwater, his sons and grandchildren, David Broadwater and wife Rachel and their children, Andrew and Stephanie of Barton, Gregory Broadwater and wife Kathleen and their children, Hunter, Anna, and McKenna of Rawlings.  He is also survived by one sister, Delores Curley and husband Charles of College Park, five brothers, Harold Lynn “Jim” Broadwater and wife Norma Lee of Westernport, Clyde R. Broadwater and special friend Marlene Sutherland of Barton, Kenneth J. Broadwater and wife Virginia of Potomac, Dr. Ronald L. Broadwater and wife Eleanor of Timonium, and Gary Broadwater of Antioch, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday, July 3rd from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at the Barton United Methodist Church on Friday, July 4th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Harry Coleman and Father Paul Byrnes officiating.  Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
