KEYSER - Albert R. Smith, 94, Rt. 6, Keyser, W.Va., died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at his home. 
He was born on May 21, 1917, at Blandsburg, Pa., and was the son of the late William Smith and Anna (Wallace) Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (Whittington) Smith, who died in 1996, and four brothers, Bill Smith, Johnny Smith, Tony Smith and Joseph Smith, and one sister, Agnes Poland, and his step-son, Erwin Malcolm.
He was the last of his immediate family
Al was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westernport, Md. He was a veteran of WW II; he served in the Army from 1943 until 1946. He was a member of the Kelly-Mansfield Post # 52 American Legion in Piedmont, W.Va.
He retired from Westvaco Corp in 1993 and worked in the Power and Recovery Dept. He loved to fish and hunt.
Albert is survived by his step-son, Richard Malcolm and wife Pat of Piedmont, W.Va.; his daughter-in-law, Ellen Malcolm of Columbus, Miss., and a special friend, Joyce Kesner and his nephew Jack Poland. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Steve Malcolm, Lenny Malcolm, Dennis Malcolm and Barbara (Peachie) Burkhardt and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Sunday from 1-3 p.m.. and from 5-7 p.m.
 Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Earl Williams, the pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser.
 The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all his caregivers who went above and beyond during Al’s illness.
