KEYSER, W.Va. -

John S. (Pretzel) Proietti, 72, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the WMHS – Braddock Campus.
Born June 24, 1936 in Luke, MD, he was the son of the late Olindo and Josephine (Colia) Proietti. He was preceded in death by his brother Sam in 2002.
John graduated from Bruce High School in 1954. He also attended Potomac State College, Frostburg State University and the University of Maryland. He was a former employee of Westvaco Corporation, and was a retired pressman of the Mineral Daily News-Tribune. John was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport. He was an avid Maryland Terrapin and New York Yankees fan and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Keyser.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie (Ryan) Proietti, two sons, Tim Proietti and wife Crystal of Keyser, Victor Proietti and wife Jodi of Cumberland, two daughters, Dawn Proietti and fiancé Bill Townsend of Morgantown, WV, Marie Buzzerd and husband George of Cumberland, and one sister, Frances Cave and husband Jim of Keyser. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris and Cory Proietti of Keyser, Scott and David Proietti of Cumberland, Wade and Michael Townsend and Amanda Lozier of Morgantown, WV, and Aaron and Ryan Buzzerd of Cumberland.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:15 PM on Tuesday.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Westernport with Father James Hannon officiating.
Internment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Westernport.
Pallbearers will be Chris Proietti, Cory Proietti, James Cave, Jr., George Buzzerd, William Townsend, and Michael Serpone.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Cave, Delmer Ryan, Harry Corbin, Frank Serpone, Joe Canganelli, and Leo Mazzone.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the WMHS Regional Cancer Center, 900 Seton Dr., Cumberland, Md. 21502.
