Gary L. Smith, 66, of 21405 Queen's Point Road, S.W., McCoole, MD, died Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Born on March 6, 1942 at Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Lorain E. and Thelma B. (Chaney) Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed as a quality control technician with Allegany Aggregates with 17 years of service. He also was formerly employed with VEPCO at the Mount Storm Power Plant, the WV Department of Highways and  was the owner and operator of the Scrub Board Laundromat in Keyser. Mr. Smith was also a member of the Keyser High School Class of 1960 and Lodge # 63, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Cumberland, MD.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Nellie E. (Norris) Smith; one son, Gary L. Smith, II and wife Cindy L., of Keyser; two stepdaughters, Kristi Lewis of Frostburg, MD and Roberta Lewis of Burlington, WV; four brothers, James E. Smith and wife Louise of Keyser, Robert E. Smith and wife Marion of Kansas City, KS, Richard W. Smith and wife Janice of St. Augustine, FL and Ronald H. Smith and wife Janet of Keyser; two sisters, Evaline Tettenburn and husband Walter of Industry, PA and Caroline Tettenburn and husband Frank of Keyser and four grandchildren, Tosha L. Smith, Brandon M. Smith, Jessica Garey and Robert McKee.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, April 24 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday, April 25 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randall Larry officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
