Ernest E. Keplinger
Ernest E. Keplinger, 71, of Poplar Drive, Fountainhead Addition, Keyser, WV, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at his son's residence in Keyser.
Born on September 15, 1937 at Fort Ashby, WV, he was a son of the late Roy and Malena Jane (Phares) Keplinger. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (McNemar) Keplinger on March 5, 1998; a daughter, Debra Hambleton; a granddaughter, Samantha Ellen Keplinger; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Jean Miller; two brothers, Archie and Paul Keplinger and three sisters, Blanche Lloyd, Virgie Barnes and Ruth Martin.
Mr. Keplinger was employed for many years as a construction worker with several area contractors and retired from Pro-Stainless in Keyser. He served in the US Army and the US Naval Reserve, being discharged in 1952. He also formerly served as a volunteer with both the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and the Fountain Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are three sons, Steven Burgess and wife Marie of Richmond, VA, David Keplinger of Keyser and Joseph Keplinger and wife Tammy of Lucama, NC; three daughters, Lisa Stephens and husband Michael of Piedmont, WV, Melissa Morlen and husband Kenny of Short Gap, WV and Linda Wiese and husband Mike of Hollywood, FL; two sisters, Marie Eversole of Keyser and Mary Stewart, a resident of the Hampshire Center, Romney, WV; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, June 22, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Knobley Memorial Gardens, New Creek, WV, on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Rosenbaum Family House, P.O. Box 9008, Morgantown, WV 26506 in memory of Ernest E. Keplinger.
