PIEDMONT, W.Va. -

Raymond M. Coleman was born to Paul A. and Marguerite Howard-Coleman on April 30, 1931 in Piedmont.  He departed this life after an extended illness on Monday, August 11, at Sacred Heart Hospital surrounded by his beloved son, Marc, four brothers and two sisters-in-law.
“Ramie” as he was affectionately called was graduated from Howard High School. Following a stint in the United States Air Force, he graduated from Potomac State College.  He then went to work at Westvaco Paper Company, now

Raymond was a friend to all he met.  He dearly loved his family and did whatever he could in support of them.  He loved people, and was there for them whenever and whatever the need might be.  For many he was a friend, a counselor, a shoulder to cry on, an encourager, a loan officer, and a neighbor. All of this was his way of living out his Christian faith. Raymond was born into and raised up in Waldon United Methodist Church.
Later he became a member of Immanuel Church where he served as a Deacon and as Minister of Encouragement.  He was wiling to serve his church in whatever way necessary.
He loved Piedmont. In the last years he never strayed far from Piedmont.  He served his community as a member of the Piedmont Concerned Citizens Committee in an effective way. He served as Vice Chairperson of the Piedmont/Back Street Reunion Committee which he loved dearly.  This past July he was wonderfully recognized by the Reunion Committee for his outstanding service across the years.
Raymond is survived by his beloved son, Marc and his friend Terri Jewell of Cumberland, MD, a sister, Loretta C. Stewart of Charleston, WV; five brothers, Paul “Ed” Coleman of Frostburg, MD, Alvin and wife Redessa of Prairie View, TX, Howard and wife Alberta, Rev. Harry Coleman, Rev. David Coleman and wife Victoria all of Piedmont, a special nephew, Larry Banks of Cumberland, MD and a dear friend Marilyn Pope of Cumberland, MD. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents Paul and Marguerite Coleman, his first wife Nannie Beckward, his second wife, Mary Taylor Coleman, three sisters-Pauline C. Gates, Marguerite C Hill and Grace Coleman, three brothers James R. Coleman, Sr., Wilman Coleman, and Charles Coleman.
Arrangements are in the charge of the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  His funeral service of worship will be held on Friday,
August 15th at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. David Coleman and Rev. Harry Coleman officiating.
For those who may wish to do so, contributions may be made to his church, Immanuel Church c/c of Pastor David Coleman 102 Erin St Piedmont, WV 26750.
