EASTON, Md. - Nina Katherine Kiddy Casey, RN, died on Jan. 8, 2012. Born Jan. 6, 1931, in Luke, Md., Katherine was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nina Knott Kiddy.
She was a graduate of Bruce High School in Westernport, Md., and the University of Maryland School of Nursing, where she received her RN degree in 1952.
Katherine enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse, beginning at Keyser Hospital in Keyser, W.Va., in 1952. After moving to Baltimore in 1954, she practiced nursing at University Hospital (now known as University of Maryland Medical Center), Central Medical Center Industrial Clinic, The Casualty Insurance Clinic, the Maryland State Health Department, and Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She completed her career as a public health nurse for Baltimore County Department of Health from 1976-1986.
Katherine and her late husband, Michael B. Casey, raised their two daughters in Towson, Md., and then moved to Kent Island, Md., in 1986. They divided their time between the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Venice, Fla., until Mike’s passing in 2008, at which time Katherine settled into life at Londonderry Retirement Community in Easton, Md.
Her hobbies included traveling, arts and crafts, reading, the theatre, genealogy, yoga, aqua aerobics, many social activities at Londonderry, and especially spending time with her six grandchildren.  Katherine had a passion for world news and current affairs and often attended lectures and seminars.
Katherine’s main priority in life was her family. She was a selfless and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Katherine was preceded in death by her older brothers Tom, Eugene and Donald.
Katherine is survived by daughters Elizabeth Casey Grieves of Easton, Md., Nina Casey Sinnott and her husband Tom Sinnott, of Ellicott City, Md.; brother, Ronald Kiddy of  Stokes Dale, N.C.; grandchildren Tommy, Claire and Scott Sinnott and Lizzy, Lindsay, and Casey Grieves; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, Md., on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 502 S. Morris Street, Oxford, Md., on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Camp Lazy Days, Attn: Graham Lee, c/o YMCA of the Chesapeake, 202 Peach Blossom Lane, Easton, MD 21601.  This is a program for children with special needs.
