RIDGELEY, W.Va. -

Thomas “Tom” Lee Lechliter, 72, of Old Furnace Road, Ridgeley, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at WMHS Braddock Campus.Born January 25, 1936 in Ridgeley, he was the son of the late David Emor Lechliter and Mary Elizabeth (Powell) Lechliter.Tom graduated from Fort Ashby High School, Class of 1953.He had served an enlistment in the U.S. Army. Tom had worked at the Celanese for 17 years. He was retired from Valley Protein, Winchester, Va. He belonged to the N.R.A.Survivors include his four children, Theresa A. Lechliter, Wiley Ford, Dwight “Ike” Lechliter and wife Krista, Wiley Ford, Melissa Bridges and husband Craig, Cumberland, and Trudi Johnson and husband Todd, Ridgeley; two brothers, his twin, John Lechliter and wife Sue, Fort Ashby, and Calvin Lechliter and wife, Mary, Carpendale; two sisters, Esther McKenzie, Wellersburg, PA and Shirley Pyles and husband Dave, Fort Ashby; eight grandchildren, Shawnee, Haylee, Brady, Jacob, Averey, Lukas, Cassandra, and Erica; several nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Helen McKinley.Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM, with the Rev. Darrell S. Tichinel, officiating. Interment will be in Ginevan Cemetery.Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews and a special friend, Nelson “Boots” Jennings.Condolences to the family may be posted after his obituary at www.upchurchfh.com.
