Ridgeley, WV Robert J. Ellifritz, 88, of Ridgeley, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at his residence.
Born February 14, 1920 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Edgar Thomas Ellifritz and Nana Belle (Sears) Ellifritz.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth A. (Rinehart) Ellifritz; one daughter, Sandra Leigh Ellifritz; three brothers, Elyah, Lloyd, and Edgar Ellifritz; and four sisters, Lydia Haines, Jessie Collins, Catherine Lewis, and Dottie Belle Urice.
He had served in the U.S. Army during WWII, working as a military truck driver in Europe.
Mr. Ellifritz was retired from the B & O Railroad, having been a brakeman and conductor.
He had attended the Presbyterian churches in Keyser, WV and Florida. Mr. Ellifritz was a member of Davis Lodge #51, A.F. & A.M.; 32nd. Degree, Wheeling Scottish Rite Bodies; Alkire Chapter #10, O.E.S.; United Transportation Union, Local #430; American Legion Post #12, Grafton; V.F.W. Post #3518, Keyser; and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, Inc.
Mr. Ellifritz was the last member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Poling Ellifritz; one daughter Inda Belle “Indy” Consalvo, Seminole, FL; two grandchildren, Nicole Larson and Robert Jeff Fisher; five great, grandchildren, Nicholas Baroso, Max Baroso, Megan Larson, Morgan Fisher, and Madison Fisher; four step-children, Dan Poling, Berlin Heights, OH, Sharon Zvosec, Sandusky, OH, Bonita Peppel, Garland, TX, and Rebecca Presko, Kansas City, MO; and, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, MD on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM, with the Rev. Gary Isner, officiating.
Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, where Masonic rites will be accorded.
Honorary pallbearers: Rudy Sites, Richard “Sonny” Clay, Ellsworth Rinehart, T.J. Norris, Bill Gulick, and Donald Gulick.
