IDIANAPOLIA, In. -

Harry Edwin Stoutamyer, known affectionately as “Jake,” passed away on August 10th in an Indianapolis, Indiana hospital after a valiant fight against congestive heart failure. All of his children were by his side at the time of his passing.
Harry was born and raised in Keyser by his parents Elizabeth Gull Stoutamyer and Reuben Asbury Stoutamyer, both lifelong residents of Keyser. The majority of his youth was spent living in a home on Piedmont Street with his parents, and his aunt and uncle, Roy and Louise Leatherman. Harry was a boy scout and a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. His was a 1952 graduate of Keyser High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, and made what would become, many lifelong friendships. He also graduated with a pre-law degree from what was then known as Potomac State College.
After a brief enlistment in the Navy with an honorable discharge, Harry began a 35 year career with the Department of the Navy in the field of civilian personnel management. His career took him all over the world, including tours in Japan and Hawaii. The bulk of his career was spent in Washington D.C. where he rose to senior levels of management at the Consolidated Civilian Personnel Office.
Harry is survived by his three children; Kimberly Knight of Leesburg, Virginia, Karen Ball of Monument, Colorado, and Eric Stoutamyer of Indianapolis, Indiana. The children blessed him with six grandchildren; Kimberly’s two children, Brittany and Christoper, Karen’s son Daniel, and Eric’s three children, Sarah, Haley, and Ryan.
