Sarah A. Spencer
Sarah A. “Sally” Spencer, 75, of Huntsville, AL (native of Keyser, WV) passed away Monday.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Olan J. and Bessie Faulk, several brothers and sisters, and two sons, Earl Elwood and Maurice, Jr.
As an Air Force wife, she traveled extensively throughout the world and made many friends with her outgoing personality. After her husband retired, she worked in a number of positions for the Federal government, including Executive Assistant to the Comptroller of the U.S. Currency, and Protocol Officer to the Commanding General, Fort Belvoir, VA. Upon returning to her hometown in Keyser, WV, Sally worked in real estate, and eventually opened and operated her own real estate office, becoming a certified realtor and broker.
Upon her retirement, she and Jim relocated to Huntsville, AL to be close to their daughters. Sally was an avid reader and a continual learner.
She was the beloved wife of retired Staff Sergeant Maurice “Jim” M. Spencer, Sr. for 57 years, and the devoted mother of Cindy Gerasimas and Sylvia Hickman, also of Huntsville. She also leaves behind two sons-in-law, LTC (R) Gus Gerasimas, and CPT (R) Edward Hickman; and several wonderful grandchildren, Cynthia Gary, Sarah Spencer, Samantha Spencer, Travis Spencer, CPT Michael and Jennifer Gerasimas and their daughter Nikayla, CPT Mark and Katie Gerasimas, Michael and Betsy Hickman, and Steve Hickman.
Funeral service will be conducted at a later time in her hometown of Keyser, West Virginia. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Lung Association in memory of Sarah A. Spencer.
