KEYSER - The second Maple Fest 5K Run will be this Saturday, March 20, at 9 am.
Due to the wet weather of the past week and the snowmelt, the course for the run is changed. The first 2.9 miles will be on the “Run to Remember Travis Macina” route with an alternative start area and includes Pine Swamp Road. The last quarter mile will be on the cross-country course and finish on the new stadium track.
The run is in conjunction with the Potomac Highlands Maple Festival. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Keyser High School boys and girls cross country teams. This is the second of the Queen City Striders circuit races for 2010.
The overall male and female winners will receive plaques. Awards will go to the top three finishers in the following age groups for both men and women: 12 & under, 13 – 15, 16 – 19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 & over.
Race day sign-up will be from 7 to 8:45 a.m. at the Keyser High gym. The first 60 entrants are guaranteed a race t-shirt.
