Bloomington to host homecoming weekend

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington residents will once again host a homecoming “Weekend in Bloomington” to celebrate the small Garrett County community near the confluence of the Savage and Potomac rivers.
The event will begin Saturday, Sept. 18 with a prayer breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. in the Bloomington Church Social Hall. Price of admission is $5 or adults and $2 for children.
Other events will be held around the community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including a community-wide yard sale. Refreshments and baked goods will be sold at the Bloomington Fire Hall, and crafts will be available for sale inside as well. For set up information, call 301-359-9876 or 301-359-9150.
The community celebration continues on Sunday, Sept. 19, with the 22nd Annual Blooming Community Picnic, beginning at 1 p.m. at the fire hall. The event will feature door prizes, singing, games and a 50/50 raffle. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish or two, and a dessert. Meats and soft drinks will be provided.
