NEW CREEK – Shirley Cain was named Volunteer of the Year and Doris Jean Keller CEOS Member of the Year when the Mineral County Community Educational Outreach Services held their annual Achievement Day recently at Sunnyside Church of the Brethren.
Both members of the Busy Bees CEOS Club of Keyser, Cain and Keller were honored for the large amount of volunteer hours each has contributed to the club and to the entire county, and for their  dedication to the CEOS program..
While Volunteer of the Year is based on hours of volunteerism, the Member of the Year award is given to someone who is nominated by her own club. Other nominees for 2009 included Jane Rinker from the Old Furnace CEOS Club, and Etta Groves from the Morning Breakers CEOS Club.
In her nomination, Keller was described as “a lady who has held every office in the club ... more than once.”

The local Achievement Day is an annual event geared toward recognizing the Mineral County CEOS members for their accomplishments over the past year.
