KEYSER — Although a volunteer bricklayer is scheduled to begin placing the remaining engraved bricks on the side of the concession stand at Alumni Field at Tornado Alley on Tuesday, there are still some bricks available for purchase.
Bob Harman, who chaired the Keyser High School Facilities Committee and spearheaded the “Buy a Brick” program to raise funds for the athletic complex, announced Thursday that he still has approximately 1,000 blank bricks for sale.
“They're $100 each and that includes 15 characters, including spaces, and three lines,” he explained.
The Buy a Brick program originally offered the opportunity to personalize a cornerstone or a brick, and the cornerstones and brick for the front of the concession stand have already been put into place.
Tuesday, Jack Landes, who is donating his time, will begin placing the bricks along the concession stand wall which faces the school.
“All the work is being done locally,” Harman said.
According to Harman, the bricks are available for purchase and engraving by any individual, organization, business, school club, class, service organization, etc.
Those wishing to purchase a brick should write out what they want the brick to say and include a check made out to the KHS Facilities Committee. The information can be mailed to Harman at 1090 Carolina Ave., Keyser W.Va. 26726.
For further information, call Harman at (304) 813-6665.
