KEYSER, W.Va. -

At 1:19 p.m. Keyser Emergency Medical Services and Keyser and New Creek Volunteer Fire Departments were called out to respond to a trauma at Lumber and Things on Waxler Road where a 31-year-old employee was caught in a fork lift suffering a leg laceration.
According to an emergency medical technician, who wishes to remain anonymous, the fork lift went through the male patient’s right leg, causing extensive bleeding.
“It was caused by a fork lift that went through his leg,” said the EMT at Keyser EMS.
Due to the severity of the wound, Maryland State Trooper 5 helicopter was called to the scene and arrived at approximately 15 minutes after the call.
The helicopter landed in the field beside the Automated Packaging parking lot due to lack of landing space at the Lumber & Things location.
The patient was transported to Western Maryland Health Systems Memorial Campus where he was treated. After a call to the hospital, no further information was released.
