FOUNTAIN, W.Va. -

Fountain Ruritan has scheduled its annual ice cream social for August 9 at the club headquarters on Headsville Road in Fountain.
“Our club is always involved in helping to make our community a better place in which to live — and this is one of the ways we make our funds to do this,” said Ruritan secretary Evelyn Johnson-Smith. “We are still making renovations to our building, and funds are being raised for this also.”
She said homemade ice cream and apple dumplings will be the item of the day, along with hot dogs, sloppy joes and chili dogs, potato salad and baked beans. Also featured will be homemade apple and peach pies, and harvest cakes.
The car show, which is usually held with this event, has been canceled this year.
The Ruritan boasts an air-conditioned building meals may be eaten in the cool comfort of the dining hall. There’s always the option of dining outside under the pavilion.
Also, kids can play on the playground.
The social runs from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Carry-out orders will be available. Place your order early by calling (304) 788-0372, (304) 788-1927, or (304) 813-4501.
Fountain Ruritan meets on the second Thursday of each month at the club building at 6:30 p.m. New members are always welcome.
