KEYSER, W.Va. -

There is a new face on the BB&T local advisory board — John Athey, a Keyser resident and attorney at law at the Athey Law building on Armstrong Street.
According to Dick Hamblin, senior vice president at BB&T Bank , the advisory board consists of six members who serve a term of four years and offer advice on what banking business is needed.
The board members meet every month.
“I know from professional and personal service with BB&T Bank that they are committed to the welfare of this community and are committed to numerous community service activities and charities. I’m looking forward to fulfilling my services on the board,” said Athey.  Athey is a 1998 Keyser High School graduate and went on to obtain his Associates of English at Potomac State College, and his Bachelor of Arts in English at West Virginia University where he also obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence.
In addition to serving on the BB&T board Athey has served with Mineral County United Way and is currently serving on the Potomac State College Alumni Board, where he is vice president, the Rotary Board of Directors, is on the Board of Trustees at Burlington United Methodist Family Services where he is also a member of the Capital Campaign Committee, and he is also a member of the Keyser High School Fundraising Campaign.
