CARPENDALE, W.Va. -

With notice on the town sign and flyers going to homes, Carpendale residents shouldn’t be surprised when law enforcement begins making regular visits to the community July 1.
The Carpendale and Ridgeley Town Councils have reached an agreement for Ridgeley to assist Carpendale with police protection, thanks to a law enforcement grant.
Residents are reminded of the upcoming election June 10. Early voting will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 29 and June 7.
In the town council race, incumbents Barbara Rapson and Mary Jo Hinton will be joined by Diana Baker, Charles Herbaugh, Jodi Miller, Virgil O’Neal, Timothy Ryan and Laurie Ryan.
Veteran councilman Butch Armentrout is unopposed in his bid for mayor.
At the meeting this week, Carpendale Mayor Casey Lambert announced that the town has completed its water system certification and the results were sent to the state with no violations found.
Lambert reported that the summer blacktopping was underway with North Virginia Street and Buddy Lane set for completion.
In anticipation of the May 13 school bond levy, participants in the recent meeting viewed drawings of the improvements planned for Wiley Ford Primary if the levy passes.
Within the next week or so, the engineering drawings for the upcoming Rails to Trails project should be submitted to the state and once approved, the project will be ready for bids.
