NEW CREEK — The New Creek Volunteer Fire Department will be launching its annual carnival tonight, with fun, food, rides and games on the agenda for three nights.
The annual “Lil Darlin'” Contest, in which friends and family can vote for their favorite “Lil Darlin'” at a penny per vote, will kick off tonight. Contestants will participate in one of three age groups – 0-3 years, 3-6 years, and 6-12 years, and a male and female winner will be named in each category.
The winners will be crowned at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday. Winners will receive a crown, sash, and $50 savings bond.
On Friday night, the department will host the annual parade, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the Reese Chapel United Methodist Church and follow Route  972 to end at the fire station.
The annual water battle will be held on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
CPW Wrestling will get underway at 7 p.m. that night, as well.
Local people will be featured in the dunk tank all three nights, and everyone is urged to come out and try out their “pitching arm.”
This week's carnival isn't the only major fund raiser planned by New Creek.
The annual gun bash will be held on Sept. 12. Tickets are currently available, and can be purchased from any member. Tickets can also be purchased at the fire station, and various other local businesses.
