KEYSER — Officials from the county’s five municipalities, along with representatives of local agencies who first joined together about ten months ago to organize a City/County Forum, will meet next week to hear the results of a preliminary water resource study in the Knobley Mountain area.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, at the Keyser City Hall, and Mineral County Commissioner Wayne Spiggle will serve as the facilitator of the gathering.
Scheduled to be on the agenda for the evening is Kevin Rega, a West Virginia University graduate student who was hired by the County Commission to conduct the water study.
Throughout this past summer, Rega participated in
identifying ground water sources at Knobley Mountain and will present the evaluation of his findings on Monday.
Also expected to speak on the subject of water is Dr. Joe Donovan, of the West Virginia University Hydrology Research Center.
He will give data about the possibility of having a more comprehensive water resource study completed in Mineral County which could show the influence of an adequate water supply and future county development.
Spiggle stated that this meeting would be of interest to the county’s Public Service Districts and the Mineral County Development Authority, as well as the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce.
