FORT ASHBY — Members from the Country Lanes and Limestone Community Education Outreach Service CEOS of Mineral County were on hand at the Mineral County Fair to raffle off tickets for quilts.
The Country Lanes CEOS was raffling off a queen-sized Midnight Stars quilt done in West Virginia University colors for $1 a chance. The quilt was put together and sewn by Barbara Branch and Charlotte Travis of Country Lanes CEOS in Burlington. The drawing for the quilt will be held on Dec. 4.
The Limestone CEOS members were raffling off tickets for $1 each or $5 for six for a chance to win the Quilt of Hope. All proceeds goes toward women who have no insurance and have breast cancer. The money will help to alleviate the cost of diagnosis and treatment.
According to Limestone chairperson Evelyn Johnson-Smith, the state sends four yards of fabric each year that has to be used in the quilt. The fabric is different each year, Johnson-Smith added.
“Mineral County CEOS usually sells the most chances,” said Bette Tranum-Mallow, Limestone CEOS member.
“Fifty-five counties in West Virginia participate, and the quilts from every county are displayed at the Meadowbrook Mall in Morgantown for ten days,” said Johnson-Smith.
The drawing for the quilt will be held on October 1. If you would like a chance on the quilt, you may call (304) 788-0372.
