KEYSER – After a delay of almost two weeks, Potomac Valley Hospital will officially begin receiving patients at its new Pin Oak Lane facility at 8 a.m. today.
The hospital was originally scheduled to open its doors on Dec. 5, but was unable to keep that date due to some last-minute details that had to be finished up, according to administrator Mike Makosky.
“We're still going through some certification procedures, and some details we need to finish,” he told the News Tribune at the time.
Tuesday, Makosky announced that the new facility is ready to open its doors today.
Patients in need of emergency room services may go to the new facility beginning at 8 a.m.
Patients needing laboratory tests, however, are being directed to use the Extended Lab at Dr. Harshad Bokil's office on Mineral Street.
With the new facility come new telephone numbers, and they are as follows: Main number, (304) 597-3500; the emergency nurses' station, (304) 597-3580; radiology reception, (304) 597-3692; lab reception, (304) 597-3610; in-patient nurses' station, (304) 597-3730; surgery, (304) 597-3715; main cardiology number, (304) 597-3565; main respiratory therapy number, (304) 597-3787; main business office number, (304) 597-3532; and Social Services, (304) 597-3702.
Potomac Valley held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the new facility on Oct. 17, when Gov. Joe Manchin was able to participate. Then, on Nov. 22, a second ceremony and an open house were held, giving the general public the opportunity to tour the partially-finished $20 million facility.
The hospital, owned by Hal McBee, is licenses for 25 critical care beds. It will offer state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including a 32-slice CAT scan, a mobile MRI, ultra-sound, digital x-ray and digital mammogram.
It replaces the facility on Mineral Street which has been in operation for 75 years.
Makosky also reminds the public that the new hospital is tobacco-free, and no tobacco products of any kind will be allowed to be used anywhere on the campus.
