KEYSER, W.Va. -

Mineral County Sheriff’s Department deputies Marc Leatherman and Seth Weakley responded to 181 West Piedmont Street in Keyser for a report of a subject shooting an air rifle at persons and a vehicle at 11:30 Sunday night.
Thomas Wright was detained by the deputies and placed in handcuffs while the residence was searched. An air rifle was discovered and as the investigation into the incident continued, Wright — who was being detained on the front porch of the residence — fled on foot.
A search of the area was conducted for Wright until 2 a.m.  Monday morning. Wright was not located.
Keyser city police officers assisted the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department in the search. Trooper 5 helicopter also assisted, spotlighting the West End of Keyser and worrying some neighbors who didn’t know what was happening.
On Monday afternoon around 2 p.m., Wright called the Sheriff’s Department and turned himself in.
He was still cuffed from the night before, though he managed to slip the cuffs from his back to his front.
