LONACONING — Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, located in Lonaconing,  recently received the top ranking in the State of Maryland for new pay for performance guidelines being adopted by the Maryland Medicaid System.
Egle ranked No. 1 out of 144 eligible facilities.
Senate Bill 101 from the 2007 legislative session provided that up to 25 percent  of revenues generated by the quality assessment tax enacted on providers be distributed to eligible facilities based on accountability measures that indicate quality care or a commitment to quality of care.  The current model shows that 46 out of 144 eligible facilities will receive a quality incentive payment due to these results.  Implementation of the payment incentives will begin in July of 2010.  Facilities will be ranked annually.
The quality measures and weighted values chosen for use in the pay for performance plan include the Maryland Health Care Commission’s Family Satisfaction Survey, staffing levels and ataff atability, resident quality indicators, employment of an infection control professional, and staff immunization percentages.
Facility Administrator Jeff Metz states, “We are extremely proud of our entire staff and community for working together to provide the best care possible for our residents.
“It remains our focused goal to meet and exceed the expectations of our residents and their families,” he added.
