KEYSER — Help is needed from all churches, civic organizations, businesses, and individuals to help make this year’s annual community baby shower a success.
The Mineral County Family Resource Network and the Mineral County Health Department are gearing up for their second annual Community Baby Shower, to be held on Saturday, May 22. After such an amazing response from the community last year, they were able to provide necessary baby items, such as diapers, wipes, and blankets, to over 100 expectant and new mothers in Mineral County.
They were also able to provide awesome door prizes to some of the attendees, which included cribs, mattresses, strollers, and car seats.
This could not have been done without the support of so many who made last year's baby shower such a success.
Being a new parent can be very overwhelming and quite expensive, even more so in today’s economy, so it is the goal this year to provide some much-needed relief and support to these families. Last year, one family in particular was helped tremendously. After a house fire, they were left with nothing and had nowhere for their baby to sleep. They were one of the families who received a crib.
This only represents one of the many families who were helped through the community baby shower.
Items that are needed are disposable diapers, bottles, receiving blankets and/or material for blankets, baby lotion, powder, wash, shampoo, diaper cream, baby soap powder, pacifiers, undershirts and onesies, booties and socks, disposable wipes, cribs and mattresses, strollers, bibs, burp cloths, and neutral colored sleepers. You can also help by donating money to buy these items.
