Sheriff releases six-month activity report

KEYSER – The law enforcement division of the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department has been quite busy over the past six months.
According to Sheriff Craig Fraley, the following calls were answered from Jan. 1, 2009, to June 15, 2009:
• Total complaints: 2,451.
• Total adults arrested: 179.
• Total juveniles arrested: 15.
• Traffic citations and/or warnings: 1,006.
• Domestic violence complaints: 78.
• Domestic battery and assault arrests: 27.
• Drug-related arrests: 27.
• Transports: 94.
• Bailiff or other court-related duties: 175.
• Motor vehicle accidents, 110.
• Alcohol-related incidents resulting in arrests (DUI, personal injury, etc.): 35.
• Battery and assault on law enforcement officers: 6.
The Mineral County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint this weekend, from 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, to 2 a.m. Saturday, July 4, on Route 28 in the Fort Ashby area.
