BURLINGTON -- Fifth grade students at Burlington Primary school celebrated their D.A.R.E. graduation on Wednesday, May 18.  Sheirff Craig Fraley emphasized the importance of decision making to the students.
“It doesn’t always have to be about drugs and violence. The most important thing I told these guys is how to make good decisions,” said Fraley.
Acacia Doman was chosen as Burlington’s Outstanding Student in the D.A.R.E. program.
In her essay she wrote “I pledge to always follow the D.A.R.E. rules for the rest of my life and to encourage others to make the same positive choices I have made.”
Gracie Stickley, Bailee Mitchell, and Timmy Grimm were presented awards for their essays on what the program has taught them.
Bailee wrote “The D.A.R.E. program has taught me a lot about drug prevention. I now know the different types of drugs and what to look for. I can recognize more now than before when a person is under the influence.”
Each student was given a black D.A.R.E. shirt to wear in honor of their graduation.
