Rabies clinics set for June, July

KEYSER – The Mineral County Commission has approved a schedule of six summer rabies clinics to be held throughout June and July.

According to state law, all dogs and cats over the age of 6 months must be vaccinated for rabies every two years.

Fee for the vaccination is $8, and county tags, for dogs only, will be available for $3. Pet owners are being asked to bring the correct change with them. The schedule is as follows:

• Monday, June 22: Burlington Primary School, 4-6 p.m.

• Wednesday, June 24: Wiley Ford Primary School, 4-6 p.m.

• Saturday, June 27: Fort Ashby Primary School, 9-11 a.m.

• Monday, June 29: Elk Garden School, 4-6 p.m.

• Wednesday, July 1: Fountain Ruritan Grounds, 4-6 p.m.

• Saturday, July 11: Tractor Supply, 9-11 a.m.

Dr. Richard A. Lechliter, DVM, will be administering the vaccination, and will be assisted by Mineral County Humane Officers Jim Hawk and Melissa Kidwell. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be contained.
