BEL AIR, Md. — A Keyser High graduate has returned home—or  close to it—to open an emergency care clinic.
Dr. Ronna Mathias Monseau and her husband, Dr. Vincent Monseau, opened Health Matters Urgent Care on Barton Boulevard in Bel Air on Thursday, May 14.
Although the couple—both of whom are certified in emergency medicine—have spent the past 10 years working in Morgantown, Ronna says she “never really left Keyser.”
“My niece is very active in sports, and we're very close to the family, so we would still spend a lot of time over here,” she said, noting that the charm of the area quickly won over her husband.
“He is from Wheeling, but he loves this area, so we decided to come here,” she said.
“Plus, there was a need for urgent care over here.”
Operating as an urgent care facility, Health Matters is equipped to treat a wide variety of illnesses, from colds, the flu, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sinus infections, allergic reactions, and more.
“When you can't get in to see your doctor when you'd like to, we can take care of you,” Monseau said, explaining that, by not offering primary care, the physicians will be able to move patients more quickly, therefore cutting down on the wait time.
“You don't want to have to wait three hours in the ER,” she said.
“Our goal is to get you in the door and out quickly, but giving you the best care that we can provide while doing so.”
The Monseaus are also equipped to take care of sprains and strains, lacerations, work-related injuries, and sports injuries.
“We're both very active in sports. We both do triathlon stuff, and my husband did Keyser's wresting camp last year,” she said.
“Sports-specific injuries are definitely one area we have an interest in.”
In order to provide the best possible care, the staff at Health Matters can take x-rays and perform lab work for urinalysis, strep, mononucleosis, and more.
“We can also draw blood and sent it out for further analysis,” she said.
Health Matters is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
An open house is being planned for tonight from 4-7 p.m. and the Monseaus are inviting the public to come out and see the new facility.
Light refreshments will be served.
The Monseaus have been working as emergency physicians with WVU Hospitals and Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
