On Wednesday, Sept. 1, Tfc Mike Ross conducted a traffic stop for an inoperative tag light on Route 40 in the area of Red Hill, Lavale Md., at appoximately 12:11a.m. During the traffic stop, the registration plates were found to be stolen. The driver/owner of the vehicle was Ricky Vecchioni Jr., 30, of Keyser. A Smith and Wesson .38 special handgun was located beside the driver seat of the car. Vecchioni was placed under arrest for the charges of possession of a firearm in a vehicle, firearm possession with felony conviction, theft under $100, and driving on a suspended license.
