On Saturday, February 20, 2010 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a member from the Allegany County Bureau of Police was on patrol in the area of S/B Rt. 220 in front of the prison, when the officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted near Willow Ave and contact was made with the driver, Cort William Anderson, 25, of New Creek, W.Va. During the investigation, it was discovered that Anderson has an active fugitive warrant from Virginia.
During the traffic stop, the officer located several hypodermic syringes, suspected heroin, suspected heroin paraphernalia, and other controlled narcotic pills.
Anderson was placed under arrest and held on a $15,000 bail. Anderson was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center.
