June 17, 2008
• Sheriff White and Chief Deputy Sabin participated in a 19 county Homeland Security Drill at the Mineral County Health Department.  The drill was regarding the mass evacuation from the Washington, DC area to areas in West Virginia.

• Sheriff White responded to 1045 Florida Avenue for a well being check.   Aging and Family Service was concerned that they received no response when they arrived to serve meals to an elderly subject.   It was later discovered that the resident was in the hospital

• DFC Reall transported inmate Jesse VanMeter from the Allegeny Detention Center to the Regional Jail in Augusta.  VanMeter waved extradition from Maryland to West Virginia.  VanMeter  has Probation Violation charges and a charge of Petit Larceny in West Virginia.

• Deputy Marc Leatherman received a complaint pertaining to a reckless driver in the Keymont  area operating a green Ford Taurus.  Area was checked but vehicle was not located.

• Deputy Marc Leatherman arrested Clint Brashear, 8 Orchard Street, Keyser who’s bond had been  revoked.  Brashear was transported to the Regional Jail in Augusta.

• Deputy Marc Leatherman responded to a single motor vehicle on State Route 46 near Beryl.  Scared Heart Hospital advised that three subjects were being treated for injuries from a vehicle accident and contacted Mineral County 911 Center.  The crash was located at approximately 0230 hours.  A Pontiac Sunbird had left the roadway and traveled over an embankment.  The operator of the vehicle, a juvenile was cited for Leaving the Scene of an accident.

• Deputy Marc Leatherman responded to a call regarding a subject with a mental status change.  Subject was transported to Scared Heart Hospital.

• DFC Smith and K-9 Kira gave a K-9 Demonstration to a Boy Scout group at the Cliffe Street Park in Keyser.

• The Cumberland Police Department responded to 80 calls for service in a 24 hour period.  Calls handled included; 13 Disturbance, 4 Theft, 4 Assault, 3 Motor Vehicle Crashes, 2 B&E, 2 Harassment, 1 Hit and Run and 1 DOP.  Officers also conducted 7 Traffic stops resulting in 6 Citations and 3 Warnings.  Officers conducted 12 business

RESPONDING EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT: Northern Garrett Rescue, Grantsville VFD, Maryland State Police, Trooper 5
LOCATION OF TRANSPORT: Cumberland Memorial Hospital
NARRATIVE: Juvenile was operating above ATV on Hemlock Rd, when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. The ATV struck a tree and the juvenile was ejected from the vehicle. The juvenile was wearing a helmet, but still sustained injuries requiring him to be transported by Maryland State Police helicopter, Trooper 5, to Cumberland Memorial Hospital.
