June 18-June 23
INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property
LOCATION: WISP Resort, Deep Creek Marina, Burger King/BP, McHenry MD 21541

VICTIM INFORMATION: WISP Resort, Deep Creek Marina, Burger King
The Maryland State police are investigating a string of vandalisms in the McHenry area along Marsh Hill Rd. and Deep Creek Dr.  Sometime between the above listed dates unknown suspect(s) spray painted graffiti on several buildings and street signs along Deep Creek Dr and Marsh Hill Rd.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the main lodge of the WISP Resort sometime between 10:00 PM on 6/22/2008 and 6:00 AM on 6/23/2008 and spray painted graffiti in a stairwell.  This is the second vandalism with graffiti that occurred at the WISP.  The Garrett County Crime Solvers are offering at least $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s).  Crime Solvers may be reached at 301-334-1975.  Anyone who may have information or can provide any further details is asked to call TFC Huber or TFC Arnold at 301-387-1101.  Callers may remain anonymous.   

• The Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack make efforts to remove the impaired driver from Garrett Highways. Law enforcement will conduct one Sobriety Checkpoint during the year 2008. A checkpoint will be conducted during the month of July at an unspecified location. With combined support of the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Garrett County Highway Safety Program, law enforcement in Garrett County will continue to strive to improve the safety of all highways by the removal of the alcohol/drug impaired driver.

June 19-June 26
INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property
LOCATION: Deep Creek Lake Bridge, McHenry MD
DATE/TIME: Between 6/19/08 and 6/26/08
INVESTIGATING OFFICER: Tfc. Huber
VICTIM INFORMATION: State of Maryland
NARRATIVE: On the aforementioned date and times, unknown suspect painted multiple locations on the Deep Creek Lake Bridge, Rt. 219, McHenry, MD. The suspects used black and blue spray paint to damage the bridge. The symbol “H2O” was also located. Anyone with information is asked to contact TFC S.T. June 27
On 6/27/2008 at 6:30 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 800 blk of Maryland Ave. for a report of threats involving firearms. Through investigation officers received information that a female may be being held against her will at 16 ½ Pennsylvania Ave.  Once on the scene at Pennsylvania Ave, officers observed a male subject exit the house and attempted to make contact with him.  The male subject ignored officers request and ran back into the house.  Officers attempted to make contact with the subjects inside of the residence for several minutes.  During this time a male subject attempted to climb out the rear window of the residence and when contacted by Police fled back into the residence.  Due to the seriousness of the threats and concerns for the female resident, patrol units set a perimeter and notified the Cumberland Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T) along with C3I.  Both C3I and C.E.R.T responded and negations were begun.  After approximately 2 hours a male subject and a female subject came out of the residence and were detained.  After further investigation by C3I both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for charges.  Further investigation into this incident is continuing at this time.

June 28
On June 28, 2008 at 2:29 am Cumberland Police
officers responded to an Arch Street residence and interviewed a 27 year old victim who reported a robbery that occurred earlier that night. The victim advised that he was walking in the area of the 200 block of Virginia Avenue when he was approached by two masked people. One of the suspects displayed a knife and demanded money from the victim. The suspects then searched the victim stealing cash and a cellular phone. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The victim was not injured during the incident. The case remains under investigation at this time.
