INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property

VICTIM INFORMATION: WISP Resort, Deep Creek Marina, Burger King
The Maryland State police are investigating a string of vandalisms in the McHenry area along Marsh Hill Rd. and Deep Creek Dr. Sometime between the above listed dates unknown suspect(s) spray painted graffiti on several buildings and street signs along Deep Creek Dr and Marsh Hill Rd. Unknown suspect(s) entered the main lodge of the WISP Resort sometime between 10:00 PM on 6/22/2008 and 6:00 AM on 6/23/2008 and spray painted graffiti in a stairwell. This is the second vandalism with graffiti that occurred at the WISP. The Garrett County Crime Solvers are offering at least $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s). • The Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack make efforts to remove the impaired driver from Garrett Highways. Law enforcement will conduct one Sobriety Checkpoint during the year 2008. A checkpoint will be conducted during the month of July at an unspecified location. With combined support of the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Garrett County Highway Safety Program, law enforcement in Garrett County will continue to strive to improve the safety of all highways by the removal of the alcohol/drug impaired driver.
Keyser City Police
June 30
4:03 p.m. — An individual arrived at Keyser City Police headquarters on Davis Street to report credit card fraud. Someone had reportedly taken out a credit card in his name. The investigation is continuing.
June 30
12:10 a.m. — Police received a call about fireworks at a car wash on South Mineral Street. Officers found subjects burning bottle caps and cookies, and advised them to leave the area.
2:12 a.m. — Police called to end of North Davis Street for report of person acting suspiciously. Karen A. Harms, 41, of Keyser, was issued a citation for public intoxication, and transported to her residence.
Cumberland City Police
On Monday, June 30, 2008 at 5:24 pm Cumberland Police officers responded to the area of Springdale Street for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival officers interviewed a 25 year old female who reported she was walking in an alley between Springdale Street and Virginia Avenue when she was approached by a male who grabbed her and demanded money.
The suspect was described as an African American male, 6’2” in height, 250 pounds, wearing a blue sleeveless shirt and denim shorts. The suspect was last seen leaving the area on foot.
The victim was not injured during the incident. Investigation is continuing into this matter. In a second reported robbery on 6/30/08 at 9:19 pm Cumberland Police officers responded to the Maryland State Police barrack, LaVale, to investigate a robbery that was reported to have occurred on Altamont Terrace in the city. Upon arrival officers interviewed a 23 year old victim who reported he was in the Altamont Terrace area visiting friends when he was approached by a female who forcibly grabbed money from his hand.
The victim was not injured during the incident. The suspect then fled in a vehicle which the victim followed until they both stopped at the Maryland State Police barrack.
Officers conducted an investigation assisted by C3I investigators by interviewing the parties involved. No arrests have been made at this time; however, investigation is continuing and arrests are expected.
