INCIDENT: Malicious Destruction of Property

VICTIM INFORMATION: WISP Resort, Deep Creek Marina, Burger King
The Maryland State police are investigating a string of vandalisms in the McHenry area along Marsh Hill Rd. and Deep Creek Dr. Sometime between the above listed dates unknown suspect(s) spray painted graffiti on several buildings and street signs along Deep Creek Dr and Marsh Hill Rd. Unknown suspect(s) entered the main lodge of the WISP Resort sometime between 10:00 PM on 6/22/2008 and 6:00 AM on 6/23/2008 and spray painted graffiti in a stairwell. This is the second vandalism with graffiti that occurred at the WISP. The Garrett County Crime Solvers are offering at least $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s). Crime Solvers may be reached at 301-334-1975. Anyone who may have information or can provide any further details is asked to call Tfc. Huber or Tfc. Arnold at 301-387-1101. Callers may remain anonymous.
• The Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack make efforts to remove the impaired driver from Garrett Highways. Law enforcement will conduct one Sobriety Checkpoint during the year 2008. A checkpoint will be conducted during the month of July at an unspecified location. With combined support of the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Garrett County Highway Safety Program, law enforcement in Garrett County will continue to strive to improve the safety of all highways by the removal of the alcohol/drug impaired driver.

• Deputy Marc Leatherman served a Domestic Violence Protective Order on Joi Hoover at Magistrate Court.
• DFC Reall received a complaint regarding a subject who had violated a Domestic Violence Protective order by making contact with the victim. Incident is under investigation.
• Chief Deputy Sabin responded to property owned by Marshall Oil Company across from Wal-Mart where a shed had been entered and 11 canopy connectors were stolen. Incident remains under investigation.
• DFC Reall assisted PD Keyser on a traffic stop involving a reckless driver complaint from Piedmont. After searching the vehicle CDS was discovered in the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was a juvenile and was released to parents. Investigation being handled by PD Keyser.
• DFC Chris Leatherman appeared in Magistrate Court for a scheduled hearing on Tina Smith who was previously charged with battery.
• DFC Reall responded to Stony Run Road for a suspicious male subject. Subject was not located.
• DFC Chris Leatherman responded to the Runway Cafe at the Cumberland Airport for a report of a petit larceny. An employee had discovered currency missing from her purse. Investigation is continuing.

The Cumberland Police Department responded to 86 calls for service in am24 hour period of time. Calls for service handled; 6 Disturbance, 5 DOP, 4 MotornVehicle Accidents, 3 Theft, 3 Assault, 2 B&E, 1 Hit and Run, and 1 DWI. Officers also conducted 7 Traffic Stops resulting in 6 citations and 4 warnings. 9 Business and residential checks were conducted.

The Cumberland Police Department answered 72 calls for service. Among the calls Cumberland Police officers handled: 5 destruction of properties, 1 drug complaint, 2 driving while intoxicated, 3 thefts, 1 assault, 7 motor vehicle crashes, 1 missing person, 1 sex offense, 6 disturbances, 1 suspicious complaint, 1 false statement, 1 soliciting complaint, 1 trespassing, 1 explosives complaint, 1 alcohol violation, and 1 suicide attempt.
