On our adventure to the Maryland Science Center to see BODY WORLDS 2, we learned several things that were directed towards our field of study.
Our adventure began on a Friday at 5 a.m. It was a three-hour trip, but it was all worth it when we arrived.
First, the group of students I was with went to the weather forecasting display, which was very interesting. It showed us how to predict what weather would probably be on the way.
The other group from our class got to dissect a heart, which I feel would have been wonderful to participate in.
They said the experience was unforgettable. They also said they learned a lot and it was very entertaining.
When both of our groups were finished with our activities, we went to their IMAX theatre where we watched a movie about how our human bodies work and how a fetus grows in the uterus. We then proceeded to the BODY WORLDS 2.
When I first walked into BODY WORLDS 2, it kind of shocked me to think that these people were alive at one time, but it was very educational.
We saw all of the different body parts that make up the human body. Some displays within BODY WORLDS 2 show how some of your body parts look if you smoke, have a heart attack, work in coal mines, or have an aneurism.
There are displays that show all of the veins in our body, all of the muscles and all of our bones.
One section of the exhibit shows the veins in different colors so you can see all the different types that run through our bodies.
It was also interesting to see the human body in all of the different views. For example, there were slices of brain, whole bodies and the lungs. BODY WORLDS 2 shows the body in different positions to display how the muscles look when your body is in specific positions.
One display shows a body that has a pacemaker, another that has a knee replacement and another that has a rod that runs from the body’s hip down to the knee.
There is also a portion that shows babies and the different stages a fetus undergoes in the womb.
Some of the students from my class said that seeing the exhibit made them want to be part of the health care field even more than before, while others pondered which specific health care career they would pursue.
The exhibition had a positive affect on everyone in my class.
Some of my classmates said they would love to return and go through the exhibit again, while others said they would love to bring their family members to see it.
We were all amazed by BODY WORLDS 2 and it was more than what we ever expected.
I have no regrets from visiting the exhibition and I believe it is an educational and fun-filled day that everyone should experience.
