KEYSER - An employee of the Mineral County Circuit Clerk's office has allegedly admitted to stealing funds and is currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Auditor's Office.

KEYSER - An employee of the Mineral County Circuit Clerk's office has allegedly admitted to stealing funds and is currently under investigation by the West Virginia State Auditor's Office.

According to a statement issued by the Mineral County Commission, the officials were made aware of the theft of funds by the individual in question, who voluntarily made the self-disclosure of the details.
    An immediate investigation was initiated by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and Prosecuting Attorney.

Once the requisite information was obtained by the Sheriff’s Office, this crime was promptly reported to the Investigative Unit of the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office. All further audits and investigations will be conducted by that agency.  
The local Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the State Auditor’s Office to provide any additional assistance or information.
