Colonial Heights school is collecting non-perishable food items for the needy

COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Tussing Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization and Student Council Association are teaming up to stop hunger in Colonial Heights.

Items that are being collected include Kraft macaroni and cheese microwavable bowls, Lance’s ToastChee peanut butter or cheese crackers, Act II microwavable popcorn, individually-packed Cheez-It or Goldfish crackers, individually-packed raisins, individual Jif To Go peanut butter packets, Chef Boyardee pasta microwavable bowls, individual cereal boxes, Snack Pack pudding cups, Fiber One oats or Quakers chewy bars, fruit cups or applesauce with a peel-back lid.

The goal of the food drive is to help families who are in need this holiday season. Students can bring items into school and turn them into their teachers up until Dec. 14. The class that collects the most items from the list will win a free lunch.
