CARPENDALE – Christmas will kick off the Christmas season Sunday as residents usher in the season with caroling.
Beginning at 2 p.m. there will be Christmas caroling on a horse drawn wagon through the town, followed by hot dogs, cookies and hot chocolate at the Holy Cross United Methodist Church as children visit with Santa and his elves.
The annual tree lighting has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Dec. 12 in conjunction with the After School Program at Holy Cross United Methodist Church.
During the school year, students come for homework help, a meal and Christian fellowship. In preparation for the tree lighting, each of the students made two ornaments to place on the tree.
The bottle cap snowmen and ornaments with each child’s picture are a new addition this year to the tree, which traditionally only featured lights.
Students in the after school program will welcome in the season with Christmas carols and following the tree lighting will have a chance to share their wish list with Santa and receive a treat.
