KEYSER - The City of Keyser has several events planned in the next few weeks to help usher the Christmas season in to the Friendliest City.
The first event is a Christmas tree ornament decorating event for youngsters on Tuesday, Dec. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. at Keyser City Hall.
Children of all ages are being invited to come out and decorate a Frosty the Snowman ornament in honor of Keyser resident Jack Rollins, who wrote “Frosty” and is buried in the Queen’s-Meadow Point Cemetery.
Children painting ornaments will also be treated to Christmas cookies, and a visit from a special guest.
The finished ornaments will be placed on the city Christmas tree for all to see.
Anyone planning to come out and decorate an ornament is being asked to visit the event Facebook page, which you can find at the City of Keyser’s Facebook page, and indicate that they plan to attend.
On the next night, Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m., the city will hold its official Christmas tree lighting.
At the request of some citizens, the tree will be returned to its home of many years ago at the corner of North Main and Piedmont streets.
Live entertainment will be featured, and cookies and hot chocolate will be available following the lighting.
The 2018 Keyser Christmas Parade will be held on the traditional first Friday of December - Dec. 7 - at 7 p.m.
Lineup will be in South Keyser, and the parade will move up Main Street into the downtown area.
Entries for the parade are still being accepted either on Facebook or at City Hall.
Area children will also be invited to have Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8-11 a.m. at the Keyser Presbyterian Church.
This event is being co-sponsored by Faith Productions, the Presbyterian Church, and the Mineral Daily News Tribune.
More information on all these events will be announced as they become available.
