KEYSER - After the recent success of “Shrek Jr.” last spring, Keyser Middle School is proud to announce the dates for its Christmas production of “Elf Jr. the Musical.”

KEYSER - After the recent success of “Shrek Jr.” last spring, Keyser Middle School is proud to announce the dates for its Christmas production of “Elf Jr. the Musical.”
“Elf Jr.” is a live stage adaptation of the classic 2003 motion picture of the same name, with a score by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin. The book is adapted by Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan.
The stage version tells the story of Buddy Hobbs, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa Claus' bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. After discovering the baby, Santa and his elves decide to raise the child as an elf. Years later, Buddy finds out that he's actually a human being and, at Santa's prompting, heads off to New York City in search of his father, Walter Hobbs.
Faced with the harsh reality that Walter is on the naughty list and his son Michael doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his birth family and help New York City remember the true meaning of Christmas.
The cast includes Jace Courrier as Buddy the Elf, Shane Hicks as Santa Claus, Jonah Reel as Walter Hobbs, Alexa Bess as Emily Hobbs, Claire Reel as Jovie, and Issac Jones as Michael Hobbs. Other characters are portrayed by Caleb Ellifritz as Charlie the Head Elf, Audrey Williams as Shawanda, Garrett Moncrief as Sam, Haleigh Welch as Deb the Secretary, Dalen Judy as Macy’s Manager, Victoria Smith as Sarah, Adam Jones as Mr. Greenway, Dalen Judy as Chadwick, Connor Spurling as Matthews, Rhiannon Paugh as Charlotte Dennon, Tamara Allen as Darlene Lambert, and Gracie Moncrief as Emma Van Brocklin.
The cast includes over 50 students in grades 5-8 at Keyser Middle school helping to round out the ensemble for the show.
The production will be under the direction of eighth grade West Virginia Studies teacher Tommy Nester and music direction by Melissa Tucker and Alex Spittler. The chorographer for the show will be Curtis Westfall.
“Elf Jr.” is being presented through special arrangements by Music Theatre International.
The show will run Thursday, Nov. 15, to Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m.
All performances will be at Keyser High School.
Admission for the show will be $5. Tickets will be sold at the door prior to each performance.
