WESTERNPORT — A New York man and a Westernport woman both remained in the Allegany County Detention Center after being arrested Tuesday following a drug raid in Westernport.

WESTERNPORT — A New York man and a Westernport woman both remained in the Allegany County Detention Center after being arrested Tuesday following a drug raid in Westernport.

According to the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, Michael Rodriquez, 40, and Candice Graceland Taylor, 34, were both taken into custody when authorities executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue in Westernport.

The warrant resulted from an investigation into the distribution of heroin and cocaine in the Georges Creek area.

During the search, police said they found a large amount of cocaine packaged for resale, CDS packaging materials and a large sum of money.

Rodriquez was charged with three counts each of distribution of narcotics and  distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in a school district, along with single counts of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute in a school district.

Taylor was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute in a school district.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit, Garrett County Narcotics Task Force and troopers from the Maryland State Police Cumberland barrack assisted at the scene.
