KINGWOOD - The Keyser and Frankfort high school bands both took top honors for their individual groups in the Tournament of Bands competition at Preston High School in Kingwood.

KINGWOOD - The Keyser and Frankfort high school bands both took top honors for their individual groups in the Tournament of Bands competition at Preston High School in Kingwood.
Competing in Group 1-Open, Keyser earned a score of 77.80 and won trophies for auxiliary and percussion.
In Group 3-A, Frankfort earned a score of 80.485 and also won trophies for auxiliary and percussion.
The top-scoring band in the competition was Southern Garrett of Oakland, which earned an 81.85, as well as awards for auxiliary and percussion.
Southern competes in Group 1-A, along with Northern Garrett of Accident, Maryland, which finished with a score of 76.25.
Grafton High School was the only band competing in Group 3-Open, with a score of 71.90.
In Group 4-Open, Philip Barbour High School of Philippi finished first, with 78.10; Elkins High School was second, with 77.20; and Fairmont third, with 75.80.
Preston performed in exhibition, and earned a score of 75.65.
Keyser does not compete this coming weekend due to Homecoming, but will return to competition on Oct. 6 at Allegany High School.
