PIEDMONT - Piedmont mayor Ben Smith is excited to be inviting car enthusiasts from all over the area to come to Piedmont Saturday to participate in the Mineral County/News Tribune Car Show.
With the 18th annual Labor Day Super Cruise scheduled in Cumberland that day, Smith is hoping the proud vehicle owners will cruise into Piedmont first, show off their prized cars and trucks, and grab some lunch before heading out to Cumberland.
“We just want people to come to Piedmont,” he said Thursday, adding that the car show is just one of the many activities that have been scheduled by the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce this summer to get people from all areas of the county to visit their neighbors and find out what each community has to offer.
The show is open to all types of vehicles, and dash plaques will be available for the first 25.
“We have three place trophies; one for Policeman’s Choice, one for Firefighter’s Choice, and one for People’s Choice,” Smith said.
There is no registration fee to participate.
Although he will not place his entry in contention for the trophies, Smith says he plans to show one or more of his personal vehicles Saturday as well.
Fish dinners will be offered for sale at the American Legion, and Duckies Bar & Grill will be offering specials, as well.
Music for the noon to 4 p.m. event will be provided by a DJ.
